A recent visit to a village near Liskeard yielded a rare find of a Ming period Longquan celadon bowl which made a fantastic £8000 at our BBC FlogIt! sale. What wasn’t collected that day was another similar bowl which had already made its way to a relatives house. However its new life as a pot stand was short lived once the vendor heard about the price we achieved for the other bowl & it was retrieved rather promptly!
Our auctioneer Paul Clark says “The owner was amazed by the price we achieved for the first bowl which was very favourable compared to London saleroom giants like for like” adding “Our pro-active marketing is as good as any – grant us the tools & we’ll do the job”.
Chinese works of art are still very sought after & represent the cornerstone of online bidding, a method of purchase embraced by the Chinese community. Our salerooms expertise in this field has enabled it to achieve amazing prices numerous occasions within this genre. The bowl itself, which measures 12 inches in diameter, has been very sportingly put in with a low reserve by the vendor & will be guided just above this at £600-800.
