Clarks host a summer evening sale of silver, jewellery & art on June 27th at 6pm. The sale starts off with silver with a small Victorian Birmingham silver rose bowl by Elkington & Co. expected to achieve £100-200. A late Victorian Sheffield silver salver by Pearce & Sons should make its guide of £200-300 while an impressively proportioned Indian silver punch bowl by Grish Chunder Dutt despite a few faults – has chances at £800-1000. A George VI 1947 London silver compact with cobalt blue enamelled décor by John William Barrett, retailed by Gieves Ltd. asks £50-60 & three Corinthian column silver candleholders would make a great table display (£500-600).
There is a varied selection of paintings. A Victorian oil portrait on canvas of an attractive young woman (£80-100) & an oil study of a horse by Lucy Kemp-Welch (£1000-1500) would make great additions to collections while a Leonard Richmond decoratively framed oil on panel of Market Square near Minehead, ought to meet it’s guide of £60-80, despite a minor fault. There a many other works too including sketches by Robert Lenkiewicz (£100-200) & Alan Lowndes (£200-300) along with a collection of work by local artist, Charles Summers. Decorative artistic objects are on offer – four Emile Galle vases, a Peter Hayes sculpture & interestingly, a Dale Chihuly American glass basket, which has a guide of £2500-3000.
The sale has a good number of fashion & jewellery lots with prices to suit all budgets. Being part of a large private collection, a Chanel single flap bag has a guide of £600-800 & a Louis Vuitton casket asks £600-700. A Louis Vuitton Takashi Murakami bag (£400-500) & a Chanel Grand Shopping Tote bag (£600-800), also have good chances of being rehomed.
A 14ct gold ring set with approx. 2.86ct emerald cut main diamond with sixteen baguette cut diamonds on the shoulders, thus in excess of 3ct, asks £8000-10000 while a very attractive 14ct gold ring set with tourmaline & approx. 2.5ct of lively diamonds has hopes at (£1800-2000). An antique 18ct white gold ring with approx. 1.45ct platinum set lively old cut diamonds (£500-700), a platinum diamond solitaire of approx. 1.56ct £2800-3000 & an antique platinum old cut diamond trilogy ring of approx. 3.4ct(£6000-7000), are worth taking a look at.
Genuine internally flawless diamonds are rarely seen. An art deco styled 18ct white gold ring set with centre stone of an Internally Flawless 1.04ct diamond, F (1+) colour, certificated by the International Gemmological Institute in 1983, set with six baguette cut diamonds on shoulders is asking £5000-6000, considerably less than if new retail.
