On June 22nd 2017 we welcomed BBC Flog It! team with Paul Martin back to Cornwall with our sale of Antiques, Collectables, Silver & Jewellery.
In front of a packed saleroom & five hundred internet bidders, we achieved record returns for our vendors. The sale had a few real fliers too including a Chinese celadon bowl selling for £8000. Auctioneer Paul Clark says “We were very lucky to have a vendor give us free reign to market the bowl as low as we pleased – fortune often favours the brave in this business & her decision to trust us reaped dividends as whilst it was guided at just £300-500 I had hoped it would make around £4000 so a great result for all”
The Chinese interest extended also to one of the Flog It! entries. A silk gown with seven Imperial Dragon roundels had a nice come and get me valuation of just £200-400 but relentless pro-active marketing by our team ensured the bidders were found to give a £4200 hammer price. Auctioneer Paul Clark added “Many folk think live bidding is the solution to sales but it is not. It helps, for sure but most serious bidders turn up in the room or at the end of a phone line” adding “These buyers need to be found & that’s when our strong, pro-active marketing comes in – I like to seek buyers, not wait for them to seek us”.
The sale continued in the same vein throughout with further unexpected & thumping results pleasing many of our vendors.
