Mr. Parr joined Vospers as an apprentice in 1948 under the guidance and encouragement of family friend Peter Du Cane, then managing Director of Vospers. He went on to qualify as a Naval Architect, Marine engineer and Shipwright. Among the ships he helped to design and build were the Gay Class Motor torpedo or Motor Gun Boats and then the Brave class Motor Torpedo Boats that were adapted for the foreign market.
